Job Description:

 

 

 

 

 

Job Title:                   Staff Nurse , RN                          Unit:  Monsignor Wall Clinic in Paramus- Bergen Regional Grounds

 

 

 

 

General Summary:  The Staff Nurse is under the direction of the Director of Nursing Services and is responsible for nursing duties relating to clients under her care. The nurse is part of a team, which serves clients who are on opioid detox or opioid maintenance.   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Position Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Participate in staff orientation and staff education activities

2.      Enter the nursing portion of the client plan of care, in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures

3.      Dispense medication as per individual physician orders and maintain accurate records of same

4.      Help answer the telephone and respond to all inquiries concerning the facility and its services

5.      Assist the Medical Director by preparing all charts and equipment; correctly labeling all blood work; and carrying out all physician’s orders

6.      Observe client’s needs, document, and report all unusual mental or physical reactions to the Physician, Director of Nursing, Program Director, and Primary Counselor

7.      Interpret physician’s medication orders and enter appropriate dosage data into the computer system

8.      Ensure that medication supply is maintained

9.      Follow the physician’s written orders and assist with clients’ physical examinations, medical care and/or procedures, and client intakes

10.  Prepare and maintain adequate medical and other records

11.  Participate in the interpretation of medical treatment to the client and to the family as necessary

12.  Supervise the collection of blood and urine specimens; forward specimens to the laboratory; and document results of same

13.  Increase his/her knowledge of opioid treatment and client issues by attending and participating in staff development in-service sessions and the orientation process

14.  Participate in weekly Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDT) as required

15.  Respond to calls for guest medication

 

 

 

Experience and Skills:

 

Qualifications:     The RN must have current and valid registration as a professional nurse in the State of New Jersey and must possess knowledge of the principles, procedures and methods of professional nursing practices. Good interpersonal skills are essential. ADDICTIONS EXPERIENCE A PLUS!
